Private day care business
EDITOR:School day care? As a licensed day care aide. I have a few questions, concerns and comments with the school day care being run year round.
There are many quality day care homes in Iron Mountain that are run as businesses to support their family and may be their only livelihood.
I feel the school system is going beyond by entering into the day care business.
Are these day care givers trained in C.P.R., first aid, Blood Born Pathogens to name a few that are required for day care providers.
What is the caregivers vs. children ratio? Six to one?
Is the program as structured as the private day care business?
Do they have birthday parties for the children?
Do they have craft and activity time?
Are they taught their colors, math, ABC's on a personal level?
Are there water days? Are there any ice cream days?
Are there any treasure hunt days?
Are there any sleep overs? Dress up days?
Are there any special achievement awards?
These are just a few of the programs offered by our quality day care homes. These children benefit greatly from a smaller environment.
These day care providers do one-on-one care for your children. Is the school going to provide this kind of quality care for your children with 190 children enrolled?
Wouldn't the $15,000 from the general fund be better spent on hiring a laid-off teacher to help your children learn more fundamentals during the school year that has more need? Do you want "doable" care for your children?

lol...Judy ..judy...Judy...Judy six to 1...NO! B-Day Parties you BET !!! Craft and activity time ...you BET!!! Colors math etc...you BET !!!! water days were darn near every day !!!! :) dress up days ,,during the school year you BET !!! who wants dress up days during summer when its 75 plus degrees out???? and every child there is special to the staff !!!!!!!!!! as far as treasure hunts go that one im not sure of,,,oops snack times you BET!!!! ....now Miss Judy you DO NOT even work at a daycare center anymore and have not for sometime,and highly doubt your License is still even valid, you work at Northside TV why are you so concerned about this it will NOT affect your life in anyway or form or are you one that just likes to make waves for something that is really no concern of yours,I highly doubt Phillips daycare will suffer much from any of this,,my son attends one these school daycare centers and have answered your questions from personal experience!!!!!!
