Boards plan meetings this week

The Iron Mountain School District Board of Education will meet today at 6 p.m. in the board room of the administration building in Iron Mountain.

Action items include accepting resignations, approving hirings, recall staff, approval of a leave without pay request, approval of student handbooks, and accepting a retirement letter.

The North Dickinson County School Board of Education will meet today at 7 p.m. in the high school library.

A closed session will be held for contract negotiations strategy.

Business items on the agenda include setting the lunch prices for the 2008-09 school year, appointing a forestry commissioner for four years, Schedule B assignments and hiring an instruction aide under personnel and a letter of agreement.

The Breitung Township Schools Board of Education will meet today at 7 p.m. in the board room of the administration building, 2000 Pyle Drive in Kingsford.

A report will be given by the school board's personnel committee.

Old business on the agenda includes approval of handbooks for Kingsford High School and Woodland Elementary School. Gifts will be accepted under new business.

The Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District Board of Education will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Forest Park High School Library, 801 Forest Parkway in Crystal Falls.

A visit will be made to the Cognitively Impaired (CI) classroom at Forest Park.

New business includes a request for permission to obtain bids for the audit, acting on a recommendation to fill the speech therapist position, and a request for the board the appoint a committee to review expulsion reinstatement request.

An executive session will also be held to discuss negotiations.

The Breitung Township Board will meet today at 7 p.m. in the board room in Quinnesec.

Old business includes audit proposals and fire department bids.

Under new business, the board will look at a petition from Woodland Drive for a private road refuse collection, East Kingsford Recreation Field security lighting, Quinnesec Soccer Field seeding, website training and township governance academy.

The Norway City Council will meet today at 7 p.m. in the board room of the city hall building, 915 Main St. in Norway.

The agenda includes approval of roof replacement for the Wastewater Treatment Plant and plant garage and approval of a traffic control order.
