Martin Browning

TUCSON, Ariz. - Martin R. Browning, 86, of Tucson, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008.

He was born in Chicago and raised in Iron Mountain. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Michigan and was a life long fan. He spent four years of active duty in the U.S. Army in New Guinea and the Philippines rising to the rank of captain.

He joined the law firm of Whyte, Hirschboeck, and Minahan after law school, and devoted his entire career to serving corporate clients and trade associations. He was elected chairman of the firm in 1985.

He married Irene Turner, also of Iron Mountain, in 1953 and enjoyed 48 years of marriage. They had fun playing bridge, golf and curling together. He loved meeting people and belonged to various country clubs and social organizations in Wisconsin and Arizona. Marty was much loved and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte; sons, Doug of Prescott Valley, Ariz. and Dave (Mary) of Avon, Ohio; a daughter, Sue (Bruce) Nash of Mequon, Wis.; a stepson, Steve (Kacy) Holmes of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Sheila, A.J., Chris and Molly Browning, Katie Nash and Hunter and Alex Holmes.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 7650 N. Paseo del Norte, Tucson, Ariz.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Andrew's, Casas Adobes Rotary Foundation or the charity of your choice is appreciated.
