3 arrested in drug raid
IRON MOUNTAIN - Three local people were arrested in connection to a Sept. 16 drug bust at a residence at N6062 Highway M-95, said officials from the K.I.N.D. team and the Dickinson County Prosecutor's Office.
Jason Stafford of Kingsford was charged with maintaining a drug house and habitual offender-fourth offense notice, Lewis Mangan of Crystal Falls was charged with delivery/manufacture of methamphetamine and habitual offender-third offense notice, and Colette Rochon of Iron Mountain was charged with delivery/manufacture of methamphetamine and maintaining a drug house.
The search warrant for the house was obtained after K.I.N.D. officials learned that the suspects purchased ingredients commonly used in creating methamphetamine.
During the search, officials seized a number of ingredients used in manufacturing methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and two firearms.
Benefit dinner
for Hospice
IRON MOUNTAIN - The Memorial Hospice Benefit Dinner will be held Saturday at Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain.
Social will begin at 6 p.m. with a cash bar, dinner at 7 p.m. and entertainment starts at 8 p.m. with music by the Golden K Club's Golden Throats .
Cost $ 25 per person.

IXL Museum
meeting Thursday
HERMANSVILLE - The IXL Historical Museum will hold their annual meeting of the Board of Directors on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the North Central Elementary School in Hermansville.
All are welcome to attend. The museum is seeking new members. Robert Meintz, president of the IXL, will preside at the meeting.
Spaghetti benefit
dinner set Nov. 2
IRON RIVER - A spaghetti benefit dinner for Callista Bortolameolli will be held on Sunday, Nov. 2 at the West Iron County Elementary School from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
This benefit will help to relieve some financial burdens Callista and her family continue to incur. Callista is suffering from Stage 3 cancer and is undergoing chemo and radiation treatments.
During the benefit, there will be bake sales, raffles, silent auctions and a 50/50 drawing.
At 2 p.m., the varsity and junior varsity football players have challenged each other to a head shaving fund-raiser. Volunteers from Chris' Hair Salon will be cutting hair.
Church hosting
stroke screening
IRON MOUNTAIN - The Trinity United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain will be hosting stroke, vascular disease and heart rhythm screening on Monday, Oct. 27.
Life Line Screening will be at the church located at 808 Carpenter Ave. in Iron Mountain. Appointments will begin at 9 a.m.
Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of both men and women in the Untied States. Recommended baseline screenings include stroke/carotid artery, atrial fibrillation, abdominal aortic aneurysm and peripheral arterial disease.
The cost for four screenings for $140 and all eight screenings for $199.

Is it just me, or is K.I.N.D. a terrible thing to call an anti drug group? Why are we being K.I.N.D. to drugs and their users? In an unrelated event, the folks at the N.I.C.E bureau are closing in on the child murderer/rapist who voted for Nader.

ARE YOU KIDDING! Daily News a meth lab is busted and it makes the news briefs section? This is usually a toxic environment with leftovers from making meth. Did anyone clean this up? This happened a month ago and we're just hearing about it?
