IM man’s disappearance puzzles police
By NIKKI YOUNK, Staff WriterIRON MOUNTAIN - The Iron Mountain Police Department continues to search for a missing 28-year-old Iron Mountain man who was last seen on Saturday morning at the North Stables Pub.
Eric Matthew Volp was reported missing late Sunday evening by his aunt, said Iron Mountain Police Chief Pete Flaminio.
He said that officers have already searched some specific areas for any trace of Volp.
"We've already done a ground search around the Chapin Pit and Millie Hill area to rule that out," Flaminio reported today.
Although officers are doing everything they can to locate Volp, Flaminio said that he would not be opposed to concerned citizens conducting their own search parties.
"We would definitely welcome any search and any leads," he added.
Although police examined Volp's phone records, they cannot comment on anything that they found.
Flaminio said that Volp lives by himself and that he is insulin dependent.
Volp is a white male with short brown hair, 5 feet 9 inches tall, and 125 pounds. He could possibly be wearing a white Abercrombie & Fitch baseball cap and an off-white Old Navy jacket.
Anyone who was at the North Stables Pub on Friday night to Saturday morning or may have given Volp a ride is urged to contact the Iron Mountain Police Department at 774-1234.

His sexual orientation could have something to do with it. That's not saying anything against him. But sure, his practices in all areas of his life could be telling in where he could be and how it came that he's come up missing.

Somebody knows something, I am convinced of that. If you do, you could give an ANONYMOUS tip to the cops. If you're afraid to call, you could also write an ANONYMOUS letter to the police.

Some people may believe in this and some may not but I've asked in a psychic group that I belong to on myspace if anyone may be able to provide any leads. I would like to ask sismaria since she is family if she would mind if I posted the picture provided in a previous article on the group. A picture sometime will help people pick things up.

It shouldn't matter to anyone if he did use drugs or had different sexual thoughts..whatever..This person Eric is someones family member who would like to have closure if he is found...He is a person just like you and me and it shouldnt matter what anyone does in their life..He needs help and he needs to be found...PLEASE..show up tomorrow at 1:00 at the bat cave...you will be glad you did...

Sometimes others can tell lies about sexual orientations, too, and then someone gets a reputation and it isn't true. And it can be a danger if such things are thought about a person, true or not.

I have nothing against anyones sexual orientation!!!!!!! why would it not be am important clue in the investigation ??? someone could take advantage of someone either being gay or straight,i'll guarantee ya the police asked the same question,,again I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST ANYONES SEXUAL PREFERENCE!!!!

WHY DOES ANYONE HAVE TO BRING UP ABOUT IF HE'S GAY. WHAT WOULD THAT HAVE TO DO WITH SOMEONE BEING MISSING????? COME ON!!!!! DIABETICS SHOULD WATCH HOW MUCH THEY DRINK ALCOHOL AND MAYBE HE WAS DISORIENTED WHEN HE WALKED OUT OF THE BAR. ESPECIALLY IF HE WAS BOTTOMING OUT. I VERY HIGHLY DOUBT THIS HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH SOMEONE'S SEXUAL ORIENTATION.

sounds to me like they should push very hard for every resident in the area to check there propertys within city limits,, sheds , garages, old cars,campers,behind wood piles,,,if he lived by greenleafs he could be anywhere. alot of things could come into play here,but were there drugs involved possibly or was he gay? not saying he is any of these but does anyone know possibly??was he seen walking out of the bar by himself?? again an urgent alert for everyone to check propertys should be being broadcasted

As SisMarie said, we need volunteers for ground search higher on Millie Hill just in case he may have tried to cut thru there trying to get home. I also think we could expand the search to include "other" areas, such as Fumme Natural Park area, around Lake Antoine, the top of Pine Mountain, Breiting cut-off road. I understand he was insulin dependent so a possibility may be a diabetic coma. We all pray for the best but also plan for the worse. The main thing is to get people out there looking to help "Sister" Maria in her quest to find Eric. Praying for the best.

Thanks for all of you who care about Eric's disappearance. There are no clues about where he might have gone and he probably has died by now, but we will try to at least cover some areas to make sure he isn't laying anywhere in the area on Millie Hill. Please pray so that clues will be dug up to help us find him and that we will be guided in our search. Thanks much.

Are there any ATV trail Riders that might be able to ride the area? Clubs? Horses? But would he even go into the woods? Bicycles.... maybe even Motorcycle clubs??? that might organize?

I was told the K-9 unit was used and only tracked his scent directly out of the door of the Stables. Not sure then if he caught a ride then (although nobody is aware of that), or tried to walk home or what. I am asking anybody who lives on the North side to check their garages or unlocked campers, etc....

The Aunt "Sister Maria" is doing that. (putting out flyers). At this point, I don't think he went to any resteraunt. I think he either wandered away from the Stables or possibly someone gave him a ride somewhere.

We searched some and are continuing tomorrow. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED..we will meet at 1pm tomorrow again at the bat cave. PLEASE COME AND TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW. He lived by Green Leef's/old hospital area.

I don't even want to suggest this..Has the police checked out the Pit? If he lived there, he would have had to walk around the pit, not many other spots unless he walked over the hill..??

I BELEIVE HE WAS LIVING IN THE APARTMENTS ACROSS FROM THE COURTHOUSE ON STEPHENSON AVE. IT USED TO BE A MOTEL.

Can anyone say where he lived at? Or at least near where he lived? It would be nice to be able to figure where he may have gone...Millie hill is pretty large, there are paths that go all the way to the hospital and farther..
