Early dismissal

for IM students

IRON MOUNTAIN - Students in the Iron Mountain Public elementary and middle schools in grades DK-8 will be released early on Friday, Jan. 16.

Central Elementary and East Elementary students will be released at 11 a.m., North Elementary at 11:10 a.m. and Central Middle School at 11:31 a.m. Middle school students that ride the bus will be released at 11 a.m.

There will be no afternoon kindergarten or after developmental kindergarten classes on Jan. 16.

Norway financial

aid workshop set

NORWAY - A financial aid workshop will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 6 p.m. in the Norway-Vulcan School Library.

All parents of seniors and interested juniors are encouraged to attend. A packet of information, including a FAFSA worksheet and Norway scholarship information, will be provided.

IM scholarship

checks distributed

IRON MOUNTAIN - All current scholarship recipients of Iron Mountain High School are required to secure their scholarship checks from Mel Laydon in the high school Guidance Center.

A current college grade transcript with your name, credits earned and GPA must also be brought in for review.

The distribution schedule will be now through Friday, Jan. 16 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

If other arrangements need to be made, call 779-2610.

KMS Memory Book social Feb. 3

KINGSFORD - A continental breakfast will be served to Kingsford Middle School eighth grade students and parents on Tuesday, Feb. 3, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. in the KMS cafeteria. Students' memory books will be on display.

United Way

meets Jan. 15

IRON MOUNTAIN - The United Way of Dickinson County Board of Directors will meet on Thursday, Jan. 15 at 4 p.m. at the Northern Michigan Bank, 500 Stephenson Ave.

At the Dec. 11 meeting, Brian LaBrash updated the board on the website committee progress. Barb Messer read a letter from Fleury Singler on record keeping requirements. Office phone-Internet service continues to be worked on.

An update on the outstanding companies for the 2009 campaign was also given. Those who have not yet responded will be worked on.

Christmas tree

pick up starts

QUINNESEC - Christmas trees will be picked up starting Monday in Breitung Township.

Trees must be placed at the edge of the street. All wire, nails, and plastic bags must be removed, township officials noted.
