CRYSTAL FALLS - Iron River funeral director Terry Lee Langenberg has been charged with another felony related to alleged fraudulent business practices, and has been assigned a new lawyer.
The new charge against Langenberg, 55, is larceny by conversion-more than $1,000 but less than $20,000, trial court officials said.
During a motion hearing Wednesday in the Iron County Trial Court, Judge C. Joseph Schwedler scheduled Langenberg for a July 2 preliminary examination to review all of his charges.
Langenberg also faces one count of criminal enterprise-conducting, two counts of uttering and publishing, eight counts of embezzlement, and eight counts of funeral contracts-conversion. All are felonies.
Also on Wednesday, Langenberg's attorney Roy Polich filed a motion to withdraw as counsel, said officials.
Judge Schwedler then appointed Donald Powell of Iron River to represent Langenberg.
According to officials, Langenberg's trial is still scheduled for August.
In June 2008, Langenberg was sentenced to 60 days in jail and 18 months probation for four misdemeanor charges of funeral contracts-rule violations. He was later sentenced to an additional six months in jail after failing to pay restitution to his victims in a timely fashion.
