John Paque
IRON MOUNTAIN - John "Jack" Paque, 58, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2009, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette, after an intense bout with pneumonia.
He was born on Dec. 10, 1950, in Norway, the son of the late Arnold and Bernadette (Knutson) Paque. Jack was raised in Quinnesec and graduated from Kingsford High School in 1969.
He married Ellen Skoglund Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 1992. Jack's love for his family was unending and he was extremely proud of his children, Chet, David, Emily, and Jeanne. Jack was fortunate enough to be able to spend many happy hours helping care for his grandsons, Gabriel and "Handsome" Jack. He was eagerly anticipating the birth of his third grandchild in November.
Some of Jack's favorite pastimes were going to camp with Ellie, spending time with his family and friends, his pets, listening to music, "tinkering" in his garage, and fixing things for his friends. Jack worked at Peterson Electric for approximately 40 years. He was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church, and over the last several years he has developed a special relationship with Fr. Joseph Gouin.
He leaves his best friend and loving wife, Ellie; two sons, Chet Sandberg of San Antonio, Texas and David (Carrie) Sandberg of Aurora, Wis.; two daughters, Emily (Joe Fox) Martinez of Denver, Colo. and Jeanne (Tracy Cahoon) Paque of Milwaukee; brother, Bob (Jean) Paque of Pembine, Wis.; sister, Carol (Steve) Rabideau of Kingsford; grandsons, Gabriel and Jack Sandberg of Aurora; mother-in-law, Marge Winkler of Kingsford; sisters-in-law, Jane (Jeff Ellis) Skoglund of Kingsford, Judy (Mike) Randol of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Lisa (Stewart) Skoglund of Quinnesec; brother-in-law, Bob (Lea Fakkety) Skoglund of Kingsford; special friends, Alice Weaver and Dick Barr; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Bernadette Paque; a sister, Jeanne Kujala; and a nephew, Stephen Lee.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church. Fr. Joseph Gouin will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, David Lee, Mike Paque, and Shawn Kujala, good friend, Mike Gregory and his brothers-in-law, Bob Skoglund and Stewart Skoglund.
