Norway approves ORV ordinance
NORWAY - Despite objection from several residents, Norway City Council on Monday approved an ordinance to regulate and control the operation of ORV's within the limits of the city.
The ordinance will provide for penalties for violation, incorporate and adopt the laws of the state governing the use of ORV's. Council members approved the ordinance under the notion it will be reviewed before Aug. 1, 2010.
The definition of an ORV, according to the ordinance, is a motor driven off-road recreational vehicle capable of cross-country travel without benefit of a road or trail, on or immediately over land, snow, ice, marsh, swampland or other natural terrain.
The ordinance will allow ORV's to operate on city streets, except a section of Strawberry Lake and Section Street, Brown, Main and U.S. 2.
