Hood breaks into Norway Speedway late model feature win column
NORWAY - Ryan Hood stormed through the field to pass Brandon Reichenberger and capture the Pepsi Late Modal A feature at Norway Speedway.
In other week 11 main events, Ron Jenshak took the Bumper to Bumper/Auto Value Super Stock A feature; John Martin won the DQ-Dog A, and Jim Stachowicz claimed his sixth Slammer feature of the season.
By lap 19 of the late model A feature, Hood was outside of Steve DeBakker for second.
Clearing DeBakker by lap 20, Hood set his radar onto rookie leader Brandon Reichenberger.
With four laps remaining, Hood jumped to the outside of Reichenberger as the two raced door-to-door.
With two laps left, Hood jumped into the lead and held on for his first Pepsi Late Model A event of the season.
In the Auto Value /Bumper to Bumper Super Stock A main, a first-lap incident severely crippled the Monte Carlo of points leader Bill Delfosse and also involved three-time feature winner Mark Jenshak.
Another wreck collected all but five of the starters, including points contender Marcus Bubloni.
Although Delfosse would get his car out to get some valuable points.
As the race went green, Ryan Wender sped by Wes Thompson. But it was Jenshak making the most by taking his second win of the season and catapulting into the points lead.
In the DQ-Dog Four Cylinder A feature, Martin held off Chris Dupuis and Cody Skog to win his second feature of the season and close in on points leader Mark Moraska.
NOTES: Cody Skog won his fourth consecutive DQ-Dog fast time ... Werner Electric U.P. 50 starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Norway Speedway.
