CRYSTAL FALLS - Deputies from the Iron County Sheriff's Office have released the names of the victims involved in the Tuesday murder-suicide in Hematite Township.

The deceased are 45-year-old Shelly Grengs and 64-year-old Max Grengs, deputies reported.

Preliminary investigation indicated there was domestic trouble between the married couple.

Deputies continue to investigate the incident that occurred at 3:32 p.m. Tuesday at a residence at 248 W. Townline Road.

Authorities declined to say how the couple died, although police scanner radio traffic indicated that the deaths were cause by gunshots.

Scanner traffic also indicated that Max Grengs died after Shelly Grengs.

According to a friend of the family, the couple had five children between the ages of eight to 17. Max Grengs also had two older children.

An official at the Forest Park School District said counselors from the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District, along with extra staff members, were on hand during the morning hours Wednesday for students.

"It was quite a somber mood. It was OK," the official said. "It was a really quiet day."

The official added the victims' children were not in school Wednesday or today and the school is trying to get back to normal.

As for further services for the family, none are scheduled at this point. Officials are waiting to see what is needed.

No further information is being released by police at this time.
