Community Thanksgiving meals offered in area

IRON MOUNTAIN - Area communities are offering their traditional Thanksgiving meals this holiday season.

In Iron Mountain, Dickinson County Healthcare System is once again hosting the traditional Thanksgiving Day turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

Due to the visitor restrictions in place at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, meals for the annual Thanksgiving dinner will be offered by delivery only.

Delivery of the meals will begin at 10:15 am on Thanksgiving Day. Call 776-5320 before 3 p.m. on Wednesday to schedule delivery of a meal.

As a result of this change, the hospital is asking for additional volunteers to help deliver meals on Thanksgiving Day.

Volunteers are needed between 10:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Call 776-5417 to volunteer.

In Iron River, the Deacons of First Presbyterian Church of Iron River will host their annual Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. The dinner, which is open to the public, will be served at 1 p.m.

Delivered dinners and take-outs will be done at noon.

The meal will consists of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, stuffing, corn or green beans, cranberry sauce, a roll and pumpkin pie with a swirl of whipping cream.

The church asks that persons sign up at the church or call the office at 265-2018 or 265-2258. Deadline for reservations is today.

There is no charge for any of the dinners.

In Pembine, the Pembine Area Christians (P.A.C.) will hold its 10th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thanksgiving Day from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pembine Town Hall.

The public is invited to the dinner that is a wonderful way for folks in the community to come together in thanks for a time of sharing both a meal, and fellowship.

"It is especially great for those who might otherwise be alone or perhaps don't have the resources for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner," officials said.

There is no cost for the meal. There will be a free will offering for those wishing to contribute.

If you know of anyone who is not able to go out, you are welcome to bring dinner to them.
