NORWAY - The city of Norway on Monday entered into a two-year agreement with Tee Time Advertising.
The agreement will allow local businesses to advertise on Norway city golf carts. There would be no cost to the Oak Crest Golf Course, and the club would make money on the advertised carts.
Jason Keast from Tee Time Advertising was present at the council meeting for questions on Monday. His company solicits companies to advertise on golf carts using a peel-off vinyl wrapping that covers the cart.
Tee Time Advertising proposes to pay the course $10 per cart per month for the advertising opportunity. The course has 22 carts, which would equal $220 per month. The course is typically open from April through October, so $1,540 could be brought in for the season.
He stated that his is strictly a money-making opportunity for the course and there will be no work involved by the course or any of its employees. In addition, there is no monetary investment needed from the golf course.
Keast said there will be respectful advertising on the golf cart.
Advertising would be offered to businesses from club members and then local community businesses before any other businesses. No advertising for alcohol will be allowed on the carts.
"Sounds like a good idea to me," said Lee Meneghini, newest council member.
Council unanimously approved the two-year agreement with Tee Time Advertising.
In other news, council:
- Was informed during a committee of the whole meeting of an ordinance to regulate outside fire pits. The ordinance introduction comes following numerous complaints filed over the past few years with regards to nuisance smoke. The goal of the ordinance is to allow the city to have some regulations and/or ability to address situations where smoke is an issue. It will not regulate burn piles or outside burning as this is handled under normal burn permits. The ordinance will be up for adoption at the next council meeting.
