MARINETTE, Wis. - Law enforcement continues to investigate the death of Eric M. Volp.
Chief Deputy Jerry Sauve of the Marinette County Sheriff's Department said the case is a "very active investigation" and "remains a priority for Marinette and Iron Mountain law enforcement."
Officers from Iron Mountain Police and the Marinette County Sheriff's Department met Monday and will meet again Wednesday.
Iron Mountain Police are not commenting on the case at this time.
"We're definitely working on it," Sauve said.
Volp was last seen leaving a bar in Iron Mountain in the early morning hours on Oct. 11, 2008. He was reported missing to authorities by a relative the next day.
The Iron Mountain man was found by a fisherman on July 6 in a trout stream, approximately one mile west of the town of Dunbar in Marinette County. His death has been labeled as suspicious.
Because Volp was last seen at the North Stables Pub in Iron Mountain and his body was found in Marinette County, Wisconsin, both Iron Mountain City Police and Marinette County Sheriff's Department are investigating the case.
No arrests have been made.
Volp had been an Iron Mountain resident for less than a year before he went missing.
Examinations of Volp's body identified areas of trauma.
Officials have said Volp's cause of death was not from drowning.
Anyone who may know what happened the night Volp disappeared or since his body was found should contact the Iron Mountain Police Department at (906) 774-1234, the Marinette County Sheriff's Department at (715) 732-7600 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-427-5857.
