Bird count on May 8
IRON MOUNTAIN -The North American Migration Bird Count (NAMC) will be conducted Saturday, May 8.
The NAMC is a continent wide count of the spring migration with all counts being conducted on the same day. This provides a "snapshot" method of monitoring the spring migration.
Count areas are compiled by counties. During the 2009 count in Dickinson County 42 observers reported 4,124 individual birds representing 113 species. The data was collected by observers at feeders, biking, walking and on driving routes.
Persons interested in participating this year may contact Evelyn Olson at (906) 774-3211 or firstname.lastname@example.org
