Lost boy found
POSTED: July 29, 2010
IRON MOUNTAIN - A Loretto boy has been found safe and sound after he was reported missing on Wednesday afternoon.
Officials from the Dickinson County Sheriff's Department said that 11-year-old Jacob Upton went missing from his home at W3958 B Street in Loretto.
He was last seen riding a red bike at about noon on Wednesday.
There was added concern in the case, as Upton has Asperger's syndrome, an autism spectrum disorder, said officials.
At 4 p.m. on Wednesday, a deputy located Upton on U.S. 2 near the Wildwood Restaurant in Hermansville. Upton had been riding his bicycle along the highway.
Upton was unharmed, officials added.

It's the UP, riding on the highway is safer than riding on the side roads- all gravel or full of potholes!

I'm also certain that many 11 year old boys ride their bikes on the side of the highway in this relatively rural area and aren't usually cause for a 911 call. The fact that he has Asperger's also is probably not readily apparent to a passerby. While scary for the parents, he was being a fairly typical 11 year old boy riding his bike on a summer day. I don't think this requires berating. Glad he is safe.

Loretto is 10 miles from Hermansville. Hardly a half hour drive.
