Veronica Leeman

CHANNING - Veronica J. Leeman, 94, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2010, at her home in Channing.

She was born on April 21, 1916, in DePere, Wis., the daughter of the late Leonard and Lydia (DeCleene) Hendricks. She resided in Green Bay, Oneida and Marinette for many years before moving to Channing in 1984.

Veronica marriedMonroe Leeman in 1937, and they were married for more than 50 years. They raised their family of 15 children before Monroe preceded her in death in 1991. She was the loving matriarch of her large family and enjoyed this role with love and guidance.

First and last in her life was her love of Jesus Christ and she was always a witness to that. Veronica was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Channing.

She is survived by her sons, William (Barbara) Leeman of Suamico, Wis., James (Cathie) Leeman of Blue Springs, Mo., Joseph (Debbie) Leeman of Green Bay, Wis., Peter (Anita) Leeman of Channing, Daniel (Jeanne) Leeman of Neenah,Wis., Thomas (Marcia) Leeman of Marinette, Wis. and John (Rosie) Leeman of Jacksonville, Fla.; her daughters, Sister Pauline Marie of the Carmelite Monastery in Iron Mountain, Sister Verone of Manitowoc, Wis., Jeanne (Donald) Zepnick of Green Bay, Sister Elizabeth Marie of the Carmelite Monastery in Iron Mountain, Mary Anne Brocker of Green Bay, Betty Lou Ferron of DePere, Janet (Eugene) VanBoxtel of Appleton, Wis. and Teresa (David) Rosenbaum of Oshkosh, Wis. She is also survived by 51 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward, Norbert and Louis Hendricks and sisters, Margaret Hendricks, Sister RosemaryHendricksand Sister Lucy Hendricks.

A prayer gatheringwilltake placeon Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Carmelite Monastery in Iron Mountain.

Funeral services will be on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Carmelite Monastery. Fr. Daniel Zaloga and Fr. Janusz Romanek will concelebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will be in the Channing Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made in her memory to the Carmelite Monastery.
