IRON MOUNTAIN - Orientation sessions for all elementary students, in developmental kindergarten through the sixth grade, in the Iron Mountain Public Schools will be held on Sept. 1.
The session at North Elementary will be held at 5:30 p.m., and at 6:30 p.m. at Central Elementary School. During orientation, parents and students will get the chance to see classrooms and get familiar with the school setting for the upcoming year.
Classes for elementary school students begin on Tuesday, Sept. 7 with students starting at 8 a.m. at North Elementary and 7:56 a.m. at Central Elementary. Developmental kindergarten will be located at Central Elementary School in the afternoon for the 2010-11 school year starting at 11:45 a.m.
Central Middle School students in grades 7-8, will have orientation on Tuesday, Aug. 31. Students in seventh grade report to the middle school gym at 5 p.m. and eighth graders report to the gym at 6 p.m.
"Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend," school officials said noting that they will received schedules, locker assignments and have access to the middle school classrooms and office.
Pictures for Central Middle School students will be taken on Tuesday, Sept. 7 with picture packet information from Lifetouch Photography mailed to the student's home as well as being available in the office.
Iron Mountain High School freshman and new student orientation will be held on Monday, Aug. 30. Students and their parents are invited to a picnic social on the front lawn of the high school starting at 6 p.m. Students will receive schedules and locker assignments and have access to the building to locate their classrooms and lockers.
At 6:45 p.m. on Aug 30, a meeting will be held in the high school auditorium. Information on school rules and policies will be discussed with a question and answer period.
Pictures for all IMHS students in grades 9-12 will be taken on Tuesday, Aug. 31 from 9 a.m. to noon. All students, including seniors, are required to have pictures taken for school records.
Picture packet information from Lifetouch Photography will be mailed to the students or is also available in the high school office.
