Robert Uren

QUINNESEC - Robert J. Uren, 76, of Quinnesec, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, due to complications of Type B Lymphoma at the Mayo Clinic, MethodistHospitalin Rochester, Minn.

He was born on May 10, 1934, in Iron Mountain, the son of the late Joseph and Beatrice (Peterson) Uren.

Bob graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1952. He served a tool and die apprenticeship withCutler Hammer Co.in Milwaukee Wis. Certified Mercury Marine OMC Technician

He married Betty Perron onFeb. 25, 1954,at Trinity United Methodist Churchin Iron Mountain.

Bob wasa maintenance supervisor for the Hanna Mining Co.at the Groveland Mine, where he worked for 28 years. In 1974, Hanna sent him to Labrador Newfoundland for six months as a maintenance consultant.After the mine closed and early retirement, Bob moved on and recieved his CDL license wherehe worked for 11 years at theGreat American Disposal Co. as a mechanic and truck driver.

He was a licensedham radio operator.He was a student pilot andattended the E.A.A. Convention in Oshkosh each year.Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening. He had the ability to fix anything and had restored many vehicles. He built three homes by himself, and helped his son, Bob, renovate his home.

Bob was a verydevoted family man and enjoyed being withhis family.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; four children, Linda (Doug) Atkinson of Green Bay, Wis., Scott Uren of Green Bay, Bob (Anna) Uren of Iron Mountain, and Paula (Mike Hilbert) Stanek of Green Bay;three sisters, Mary Lou (Frank) Warmuth of Kingsford, Betty (Larry) Olson of Menasha, and Susan (Gerald) Knutson of Kingsford; five grandchildren, Simone Uren, Joe Uren, Jason Porath, Chris (Jess) Atkinson, and Austin Stanek;one great-grandson,Parker Rossato; a great-granddaughter that will be welcomed into the family in December; two step-grandchildren, Corey (Ashley) Christian and Sandra Christian; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by two brothers,Tom and JerryUren.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev.Jim Danielsonwill officiate.

The family would like to thank Northwoods Airlifeline coordinator Bruce Rutter, pilot, Steve Phillips, and DCMH respitory therapist, Ron Anderson for all of their help, and special friends, Jerry and Bonnie Buelteman.
