MARQUETTE - A Gwinn teen was rushed to the emergency room at Marquette General Hospital this afternoon after an apparent accidental fall of 70 feet or more from a cliff at Presque Isle Park, according to police.

Marquette City Police Department Capt. Gordon Warchock said the teen, who was not identified, suffered undisclosed injuries and was conscious and being examined at the emergency room.

Officers were still gathering information, but preliminary indications were that the girl was walking with others and got too close to the edge of the cliff face at a point north of the first lookout at the park.

Marquette police and fire departments were assisted by personnel from the Marquette County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Coast Guard. More details were expected to be released later today.
