MARINETTE, Wis. - One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash in the town of Grover on Wednesday.
Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve said that at 9:51 a.m., Marinette County Dispatch was notified of a two-vehicle crash on County Trunk B in the town of Grover, approximately three miles west of the city of Peshtigo, Wis.
Serious injury and entrapment was reported. Sheriff's deputies, Peshtigo Police officers, Marinette Area Rescue Squad, and Bay Area Medical Center paramedics were dispatched to the scene as well as the Grover-Porterfield Fire Department.
Investigation of the scene revealed an eastbound car, driven by a 67-year-old woman from Coleman, Wis., crossed the centerline into the path of a westbound empty logging truck causing a nearly head-on collision.
The woman was alone in her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by Marinette County Coroner George Smith.
The driver of the logging truck, Marshall Giese, 37, of Crivitz, Wis. was also along in his vehicle. He was not injured.
The name of the deceased will be released at a later time, pending notification of her family.
Investigation into the crash continues. The crash is Marinette County's eighth fatality for this year.
