Area city races featured

Municipal elections will be on the ballots Tuesday in Dickinson and Iron counties.

Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In the city of Norway, four candidates have filed for three council seats, including incumbents Mayor George Bal and Lee Meneghini. Also running are former city council member Mark Bubloni and Christopher Gotstein.

In Kingsford, there are three open seats.

Incumbents seeking re-election are Michael Flaminio and Cynthia Dixon-Miller. Newcomer Brian Smeester is running for the third slot. Incumbent Paul Novara is not seek re-election.

Iron Mountain has four candidates seeking four seats. They are incumbents David Farragh, Robert Moraska, Mayor Bruce Rosen and Kay Villa.

In Iron County, there will be some contested races, mostly on the west side.

In Iron River:

- Incumbent Roger Zanon will face challenger Terry Tarsi in the race for mayor.

- Incumbent Michael Brozak and challenger Al Perlongo will vie for one four-year term on the city council.

- Incumbent Ray Coates and challenger Arthur Sacheck are running for one four-year term on the city council.

In Caspian:

- Incumbents Mark Stauber and Joe Sabol, and newcomer Jody Menghini are running for two two-year terms on the city commission.

- Anthony Dallavalle and David Medovich are running to fill one unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2012 on the city commission.

In Gaastra:

- No one has filed to run for mayor.

- Incumbent Delsey Treado is the only candidate running for one two-year term on the city commission. No one filed to run for the other two-year term.

In Iron River Township:

- There is a millage renewal proposal for two mills over three years for general operating expenses.

In Bates Township:

- There is a millage renewal proposal for three mills over four years for general operating expenses and roads.

In Crystal Falls Township:

- There is a millage proposal for 3.5 mills over four years for general operating expenses and the fire authority.
