Economically speaking, how do you believe Michigan is faring these days?
Is this Christmas better than those of recent years?
While Michigan still faces many challenges, we believe there are signs everywhere that are encouraging.
Holiday sales seem to be up, be it ever so small. Development is taking place around us as investors still are looking for good deals and opportunities. Gradually real estate seems to be experiencing little glimmers of hope.
Unemployment numbers in Michigan are down (Latest figures show that state's unemployment falls below 10 percent for the first time in three years). The Michigan state park system was just named best in the country by the National Recreation and Park Association, while the Bloomberg Analysis just released findings that Michigan ranks second in the country, behind North Dakota, for economic stability.
"Michiganders are pulling together to do what's best for our state and the results are paying off," said Gov. Rick Snyder in discussing the Bloomberg findings.
As we look around we still see many families hurting, many needs still requiring attention.
However, we also see many positive signs as well, items that in years past would have been but a dream, yet this year have become a reality.
We are encouraged. We are optimistic.
We hope you are too.
