Six Sears and Kmart stories in Michigan, and one Sears store and one Kmart in Wisconsin are among the store closings announced this week by the parent company of Sears and Kmart.
None of the Upper Peninsula stories are on the closure list announced Thursday.
Sears Holdings Corp. in Hoffman Estates, Ill., says it's closing 100 to 120 Sears and Kmart stores. On Thursday, the company released locations of 79 of the stores.
The Kmart store in Iron Mountain will remain open, said a store spokesperson this morning. It is not slated to close, he said. The Kingsford Sears is locally owned and is not affected by the closures.
In Michigan, Sears stores in Brighton, Adrian, Harper Woods and Monroe are scheduled to close, as are Kmart stores in Macomb County's Chesterfield and Washington townships.
In Wisconsin, the Sears Grand/Essentials in West Baraboo and a Rice Lake Kmart are on the partial list of store closings released Thursday.
Florida is hardest hit with 11 closings. Ohio and Georgia have six each, and Minnesota, North Carolina and Tennessee four each.
