IRON MOUNTAIN - Slick and snow-covered roads caused several vehicles to go into the ditch keeping tow trucks and area law enforcement busy on Monday.
Crews spent two hours clearing the roadway after two semi-trucks collided on U.S. 2 at Lake Antoine Road Monday.
Preliminary investigation indicates a logging truck driven by a 27-year-old Felch man was traveling south on U.S. 2 and attempted to make a left turn onto Lake Antoine Road at approximately 10:10 a.m.
Iron Mountain Police Chief Peter Flaminio said the truck collided with a flatbed tractor trailer driven by a 26-year-old L'Anse man traveling north on U.S. 2.
The collision spilled logs onto the roadway and disabled both trucks.
No injuries were reported. Both trucks had to be towed from the scene.
Both drivers were issued citations and cleanup took approximately two hours, Chief Flaminio said.
Officials did not release the nature of the citations.
Iron Mountain Police were assisted on scene by the Dickinson County Sheriff's Department, Michigan State Police, Wilson Auto Collision, L.R. Vincent Trucking, Mike Carlson Trucking of Iron Mountain and Jeff Jacobson Trucking of Felch.
No injuries were reported when a garbage truck went into the ditch on Lake Road near the railroad tracks in Norway at approximately 9 a.m. Monday.
