MENOMINEE - Four suspects have been arrested in Menominee on heroin charges by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) and the Menominee City Police Department.
Three additional suspects were arrested in Menominee, one which led detectives on a foot chase into a secondary residence, where he was apprehended, Menominee Police Department officials announced.
As detectives were conducting surveillance on another target house, they witnessed two suspects exit and complete a drug transaction out of a pickup truck in the alley.
As detectives converged, the truck quickly backed up nearly striking one officer; the officer had to jump out of the way of the suspect vehicle.
The truck crashed into an undercover car and then sped off nearly hitting two other undercover patrol cars, but was subsequently stopped by Menominee Police marked units.
The suspects had thrown 16 Suboxone pills from the vehicle. The driver was arrested for felonious assault, driving while license suspended and a probation violation, police said. The passenger, a pregnant female, was taken to the local hospital by ambulance.
UPSET then conducted a joint search warrant on a residence in the city of Menominee with the Marinette, Wis., Drug Team.
A male and female occupant were arrested for heroin delivery, as both teams had narcotic transactions at that residence
In addition, Marinette had a recent fatal drug overdose at that location.
A male suspect ingested some of the heroin upon entry into the home and was taken to the local hospital by ambulance after being lodged in jail.
