CRYSTAL FALLS - Jerome "Jerry" V. Sparapani, 77, of Crystal Falls, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.

He was born Nov. 22, 1934, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Victor and Jean (Peterson) Sparapani.

Jerry married Carol Schoeppe on April 11, 1964.

Jerry received his mechanical engineering degree from Houghton Mining College, now Michigan Technological University.

He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting.

Jerry was a member of the Union Local III Pipe Fitters of the Upper Peninsula.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Corps of Engineers.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Sparapani of Iron Mountain; two sons, Steve (Selina) Sparapani of Iron River, Michael Sparapani of Kingsford; one daughter, Kathleen (Steve) Tegge of Troy, Mich.; one brother, Ricky (Barbara) Sparapani of Iron Mountain; three sisters, Lee Ann (Glenn) Goodman of Iron Mountain, Darlene Smith of Iron Mountain, Christine (James) Beauchamp of Quinnesec and four grandchildren, Danielle, Troy, June, and Lydia Tegge.

The visitation will be held on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the church. Rev. Micheal Laakko will officiate.

The East Side Veterans Council will accord military rites at graveside. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established with the family.
