IRON MOUNTAIN - The annual One Big Day for Healthy Kids will be on Saturday, May 12, at Mountain View Ice Arena from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Dickinson County Healthcare System (DCHS) has partnered with the Northern Lights YMCA to bring this free event to the area.
"In 2011, 400 children received free bike helmets at the event," said Terese Schettler, marketing specialist at DCHS.
Organizers have noted that, this year the event will include the free bike helmet fitting and give-away along with five inflatables for kids to try - a bounce house, a slide, toddler area, obstacle course and Velcro wall.
Booths will fill in the space with information on kid's activities, family friendly organizations and basic information for being a healthy family.
Each booth will offer a "make & take" or fun activities for families to do together, as well as information about area resources. Children can also take a turn on the "Bike Path" with the Dickinson Area Bike Path Committee offering basic safety lessons for all kids.
Other vendors include a photographer for kids and family photo sessions, the Lions Club providing free vision screening, MI Child ID Program provided by the Masonic Lodge, concessions by DAHA, as well as many other service organizations.
