IRON MOUNTAIN - The Dickinson Chapter of the Michigan Association of Retired (Public) School Employees will host a mega event at Pine Grove Country Club on May 17.
Members and spouses are invited to attend this local version of the annual state conference. Registration and luncheon will only cost $13.
The event begins with a social hour from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with coffee and Chef Mitch's special muffins provided by the treasury. Reservations are required and can be made with your caller by Thursday, May 10. Cancelation or additions must be made by calling Carole Wilcheck at 774-5053 by Monday, May 14, at noon.
Don Johnson, Area 2 director, will narrate a DVD presentation on pension and insurance benefits at 10:30 a.m. He will also answer questions from the floor.
Johnson will call the annual state business meeting to order following the presentation. He will update members on any state level changes and have delegates Pam King, Diane Benjamin, Marilyn Phillips and Pam Edens vote on any changes in state by-laws, procedures and policies. If any of these delegates cannot be present to vote they are to contact president Holly Stratton who must activate, in advance one of the following conference delegates alternates, Barb Church, Gayle Nicholson, Kathy Zanon, or Clyde Peterson.
Any member may offer questions, concerns, suggestions, etc. at this annual state meeting. The Chapter Service Award will be presented. There will also be a drawing for two door prizes sent by state MARSP as well as eight small chapter prizes.
The luncheon will be served at noon. Menu features salad, meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, California blend vegetables, and chocolate cake for dessert.
Membership co-chairs Germaine Edwards and Kate Thomas will accept membership dues renewals, which must be in before June 30.
If you are a retired Michigan Public School Employee and have never attended a MARSP function call Edwards at 774-1150 or Thomas at 774-5220 for a free luncheon reservation. It would be an excellent opportunity to see how MARSP membership can benefit you.
Should any member need to cancel after May 14, please send your luncheon payment with a friend who can bring your boxed dinner to you.
The recent pantry drive in March and April netted 388 canned or boxed foot items, the most ever collected.
