EDITOR:My wife and I usually go to Iron Mountain/Kingsford about once a week to shop. Recently I have noticed more people ignoring the stop lights.
I can count on one hand the number of times that I have Not seen a vehicle run a red light or speed up to race through a yellow when there is ample time to stop. Frequently, I have stopped only to have someone behind me in the next lane race to get through the light. It's no wonder there have been so many accidents at intersections.
I have also noticed that there is a serious lack of patrol cars visible.
Is there a connection? Perhaps if the police were to patrol the streets more and issue tickets for ignoring the traffic lights there would be fewer accidents and more people obeying the traffic signals.
