FELCH - A benefit is being held for the Carlson family of Foster City on Saturday at the Felch Community Center from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
"As a small community, closely knit together through church, friendships and family, we are linking arms to come alongside the Jim and Erin Carlson Family after they suffered so much recent tragedy in Jim's untimely passing. Erin is now a widow with six children still dependent on her. It seems difficult for them to know where to begin to put back the pieces of their lives; we believe that by our compassionate support and continued prayer this will be accomplished," organizers said.
There are some immediate concerns that we as a loving community can address, and one of them is in the area of their finances. Therefore, some of their friends are planning a benefit event. This is to be a day filled with "carnival family fun for everyone."
A special feature performance from Sick Air with Scott Murray will be one of the highlights to take in during the benefit.
A meal centered around a pig roast will be served from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with affordable family prices along with a bake sale and popcorn available. Alex's Place will be serving up fruit smoothies and Princeton Garden will be offering an array of flavored iced coffees.
There will be drawings from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., 50/50s throughout the day, bingo, a craft sale, and horse shoe tournaments. Carnival fun games include ring toss, Wheel of Fortune, Plink-o, fish pond, balloon darts, face painting, and a cake walk with sculptured cakes of dinosaurs, princesses and frogs.
Monetary donations can be mailed or dropped off for the family at Carlson Family Benefit, First National Bank of Norway, 1917 North Stephenson Ave., Iron Mountain, Mich. 49801.
