Kingsford Public Safety Department officers located hot spots and extinguished the fire until 9:30 p.m.

The fire caused extensive damage to the deck, roof and attic area of the residence, Gussert said.

The homeowners had just recently moved into the residence, neighbors said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Assisting Kingsford Public Safety on scene were Wisconsin Electric, Beacon Ambulance, Iron Mountain Police Department, and the Aurora Fire Department.
