HERMANSVILLE - State Rep. Edward McBroom is the principal speaker for the Memorial Day exercises to be held at the Riverside Cemetery in Faithorn and the Meyer Township Cemetery in Hermansville.
McBroom was elected in November 2010 to his first term in the Michigan House to represent residents of the 108th District.
McBroom graduated from Norway High School in 1999 and from Northern Michigan University in 2005 with a degree in music education and social studies education.
A lifelong dairy farmer from Dickinson County, McBroom has also served as a substitute teacher for the area school districts. As a member of Michigan's Farm Bureau's State Policy Development Committee and Michigan Farm Bureau's State Young Farmer Committee.
McBroom has presented at different conferences and workshops to more than 300 young Michigan Farmer's each year and helped run several award programs for young farmers around the state.
McBroom has been married for five years and has three children. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Norway, where he teaches Sunday School, directs the choir and participates in many other activities. He has directed and played the french horn in the Norway City Band for the past 10 years and participates in the Dickinson County Band.
McBroom has been an active part of the Dickinson County Fair and the U.P .State Fair for more than 15 years and is currently working on the livestock advisory committee.
