IRON MOUNTAIN - Daughters of Isabella Congress Circle 367 meeting will be held on Thursday, June 7 at the I.C. Faith Formation Center at 1 p.m. with Dorothy Burkart, Ann Kaya and Elsie Klump as hostesses.
All members are encouraged to attend. Guests and prospective members are welcome.
Regent Marcene Fuse greeted the members as she opened the meeting on May 10 at the I.C. Faith Formation Center and welcomed the return of treasurer, Dorothy Burkart after convalescing from surgery.
Chancellor Louise Plante led the opening prayer and opening ode was sung by all. Regent Marcene led the members in the pledge to the flag and to the state of Michigan. Chancellor Louise gave a spiritual reading on "Doubting Thomas" and how Thomas believed only after he saw the nail holes on Jesus. "We are all reminded that we must believe and grow in faith," she said.
A thank you card was received from Dorothy Burkart and read.
Correspondence was received from the Michigan State Circle promoting a drawing. They received tickets which will be purchased by the Circle and some members. They are assessed by the state $100 to help defray expenses for the State Convention to be held in June on Mackinaw Island. Correspondence was read from the International.
Respect for Life was discussed an a report on Queen Isabella, the patron was given.
Regent Marcene reported that the yearly "Vacation Bible Camp" will be held this summer for the young students from the four Catholic churches. A motion was made by Betty Simon and seconded by Delores Hamby to give our usual donation to help fund the project. Motion carried.
The Hail Mary person for May will be Betty Pirlot who is now a resident of ManorCare.
Birthdays and anniversaries were recognized with special mention of Angela Fornetti celebrating her 92nd birthday.
The annual May Mass has been scheduled to be held today at Immaculate Conception with lunch to follow.
The D and I obligation was taken by the members and the drill had for the good of the order.
"Open My Eyes Lord" was sung and the closing prayer was said followed by the D and I song. Lunch was served by Maren Johnson and Delores Hamby. Cards were played with Rose Dishaw, first and Peggy St. Louis, second in Push.
