IRON MOUNTAIN - The Daughters of Isabella Congress Circle 367 will be meeting on Thursday, July 12 for a potluck lunch at noon at the I.C. Faith Formation Center with Louise Fontecchio and the officers on committee.
All members are invited to attend and guests are welcome.
The June 7 meeting of Circle 367 was opened by Regent Marcene Fuse. The opening prayer was led by chancellor Louise Plante.
The Charter was draped in memory of Angela Fornetti, who passed away on June 4. She had been a member for 31 years. Prayers were offered for her and the song "Oh What Could My Jesus Do More" was sung. A Mass will be celebrated for Fornetti on Thursday, Sept. 6. The opening Ode was sung.
Regent Marcene led the members in the pledge to the flag and to the state of Michigan.
Chancellor Louise gave a spiritual reading entitled "Herod the Great." Regent Marcene read an article on "Mass Intentions Explained," which was very informative. Regent Marcene informed the group that tickets were received for the Bishop Baraga Catholic School annual fund-raiser for 2012 and a check will be sent.
The Hail Mary persons for June will be Mary Jane Creed and Coleen Schmidt. Cards were sent to Msgr. Kaszmarek celebrating his 43rd anniversary in the priesthood and Fr. Valerio who celebrated his 53rd.
Birthdays were recognized and the Happy Birthday song was sung for Marge Menghini's 93nd birthday.
A discussion was had on the July potluck luncheon. Motion was made by Peg St. Louis and seconded by Delores Hamby that the July meeting be held on July 12 rather than the usual July 5. Members are asked to bring a dish to pass and their own table service. They will meet at noon at the I.C. Faith Formation Center.
Regent Marcene reported on the recent Mother's Day Mass and luncheon which was well attended.
The obligation was taken by the members of the drill was had for the good of the order.
"Open My Eyes" was sung and the closing prayer was said. The closing D of I song was sung with the members holding hands in unity.
Lunch was served by Dorothy Burkart, Ann Kaya and Elsie Klump after which cards were played. Cash prizes were awarded to Dorothy Burkhart, first and Margaret Campbell, second in push and Betty Simon, first and Dee Cowell, second in bridge.
