An inspiration to all of us

The Daily News

EDITOR:My wife Sandra was a surgery patient at Froedhert Hospital in Milwaukee and when discharged from the hospital we were told we would have to be there another week so we were referred to Kathy's House which is like Beacon House in Marquette.

While at Kathy's we met a couple from Sagola by the names of Bob and Kris Cary.

Bob 8 or 9 months ago suffered a terrible stroke at the base of his brain. Bob could only blink his eyes and listen. Now after months of PT and OT at the VA hospital in Milwaukee he is able to speak, run an electric wheelchair and take steps with a walker.

Bob Cary is a real live hero.

I am not the only one that thinks he is a hero. There is a 12 year old girl from Escanaba that wrote an essay about Bob and him being her hero.

The following are her words in the essay she wrote.

"My hero is Bob Cary. First before I tell you why he is my hero I'm going to tell you a little bit about him.

"He is a very nice person. He has touched sooo many hearts including me. He loves NASCAR, racing hunting fishing and he is very good at taking pictures.

Now I'm going to tell you why Bob is my hero, he is my hero because this man had a stroke 6 weeks ago at the base of his brain. Did you know that 95 percent of people who have this kind of stroke die? The only thing he could do was blink and listen. Bob is Fighting sooo hard and as of right now he can whisper things and move his fingers, legs and arms just a little bit.

"We are all sooo very proud of him. I love him very much and I know one thing that Bob is going to do, he is going to be able to do all the things he did before this tragic thing happened to him. I believe that Bob is going to keep fighting as hard as he has been because he has determination, friends, family and faith.

"Now you know who my hero is, his name is Bob Cary.

Love you Bob.

Bob Cary should be an inspiration to all of us.
