EDITOR: The Iron County Deputy Sheriff's Association is proud to announce its endorsement of Sheriff Mark Valesano for the 2012 Iron County Sheriff Election. Your Iron County Sheriff's Deputies unanimously voted to support Mark Valesano for Iron County Sheriff.
Since being appointed sheriff in 2008 Mark Valesano has demonstrated his ability to tackle tough problems, work through the issues with sincerity, and make educated decisions. Sheriff Valesano's willingness to listen to all sides of an issue before making a judgment is one shining example of his character.
Sheriff Valesano has made staff training a priority and continues to see training opportunities for his deputies. The training we receive not only expands our knowledge, but it also builds confidence, professionalism and reduces liability to the county.
Sheriff Valesano has worked to bring tax dollars back into Iron County through seeking of grant funds to support the Sheriff's Office operation. Sheriff Valesano has significantly reduced the cost associated with meals served in the correctional facility. Sheriff Valesano is offsetting the county costs of maintaining the jail by contract housing department of corrections inmates.
The Iron County Deputy Sheriff's Association believes in Sheriff Valesano's mission statement, "To make Iron County a safer place to live, work, and play" and works every day to that end. Please join us in supporting Sheriff Mark Valesano by voting in the Aug. 7 primary election.
The Iron County Deputy Sheriff's Association is also pleased to announce its endorsement of Punner Franzene for the office of Iron County treasurer.
Franzene has demonstrated extensive treasury experience, the ability to work well with others, and professionalism. She has that "can do" attitude found in every successful leader.
