Flivvers:Booster meeting

KINGSFORD - Kingsford Flivver Athletic Booster Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, in the high school cafeteria.

Election of officers will held at this time.

Weightlifting:Strongman Sat.

CRYSTAL FALLS - U.P. Strongman Competition, open to men and women age 16-older, starts at noon Saturday, Aug. 4, at Runkle Lake Park.

Pre-registration fee is $20; day of the event $25.

Bocce:'Church' Aug. 5

IRON MOUNTAIN - The 20th annual Church Open Bocce Tournament, a fun activity of camaraderie and competition, will start at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at City Park's Ray Mariucci Bocce Complex.

For more information or to register a team, call John Gaudette at the Woodlands Motel, 774-6106. Teams can also sign up at the bocce courts or at their place of worship.

Pro wrestling:Show Aug. 4

AURORA, Wis. - Brian Kendrick, "The Rocker" Marty Jannetty and local legend "Irish Mickey" Doyle will highlight the pro wrestling card Saturday, Aug. 4, at C&R Bar.

In a "barbed wire death match," the 64-year-old Doyle and Peter B. Beautiful will collide.

U.P. Wrestling sponsors the expected eight-match program, with all ages welcome to attend. Ticket prices are $15 in advance, $20 day of the show and $10 for kids.

Bowling:Hilltop meetings

NIAGARA, Wis. - Doug's Hilltop Lanes will hold organizational meetings in August - Tuesday women's, 14th; Wednesday men's, 15th, and Thursday women's, 16th.

A new Monday men's league, with room for eight teams, meets Aug. 13. A new men's and women's scratch league, with room for eight teams, meets Aug. 17. Sunday mixed couples, still in need of teams, meets Aug. 12.

Meetings begin at 7 p.m. Team captains or representatives are urged to attend.
