EDITOR:Aug. 7 is primary election day as I am certain that most people realize by now. There are some offices to be filled with a number of candidates vying to fill those positions. The area which has piqued my interest the most is the Iron County Board of Commissioners and those opting to fill these seats.
I have broken down the districts in numerical order so it may assist voters in knowing which candidate is in their district and with this being said I will give the district number, its geographic location, and which candidate I feel will do the best job.
In just about all cases the candidates who are victorious in the Aug. 7 primary will be, in essence, elected and will officially take office on Jan. 1, 2012. The districts are as follows:
District 1 - city of Gaastra, Stambaugh and Iron River townships; only obvious choice here is Wayne Wales.
District 2 - Bates Township and the northern half of the city of Iron River Precincts 1 and 2; only choice here is Jim Brennan.
District 3 - southern half of the city of Iron River Precincts 3 and 4 and the city of Caspian. The absolute only choice here is Ray Coates, whose name will be on the ballot in District 3 as an Independent in the Nov. 6 general election.
District 4 - city of Crystal Falls and Mastodon Township; the only choice here is Carl Lind.
District 5 - Hematite and Crystal Falls townships; the only choice here is Bev Camp.
Nothing is perfect but the voting public has a perfect opportunity to attain and receive as close to absolute perfection, as you will ever have the chance to get in any endeavor you may become involved in.
