EDITOR: A recent event was held at the top of Pine Mountain Ski Jump. The ceremony and speakers were great. The project for new steps with plaques was great.
There was only one thing wrong.
The road was a dust bowl.
They have a beautiful war memorial and a nice pavilion with tables and a view from the top of Pine Mountain that is awesome. Local politicians have spoken at various events at Pine Mountain including this one, but they fade into the sunset.
Part of the dirt road is in Iron Mountain but most of it is in Breitung Township.
Thousands and thousands of tourists visit the top of Pine Mountain each year. I wonder what they think of this dust bowl they call a road. Blacktop the road and don't pray for rain.
