Suspicious fire in Kingsford

IRON MOUNTAIN - A fire at the Masonic Temple early this morning is suspicious in nature.

Officers from the Kingsford Public Safety Department located a fire outside of the Masonic Temple, 300 S. Carpenter Ave. at 1:20 a.m. today.

Sgt. Joe Menghini said the fire was located in the east entry way of the temple. It was quickly extinguished with a fire extinguisher by the patrol officers on scene.

Engine No. 45 arrived on scene and the thermal imager was used to make sure the fire didn't spread any further.

Menghini said the fire is suspicious in nature.

If anyone has information about the fire, they are asked to call the Kingsford Public Safety Department at 774-2525.

The Kingsford Public Safety Department was assisted at the scene by Iron Mountain Police, Dickinson County Sheriff's Department and the Michigan State Police.
