Ethel Snyder

IRON MOUNTAIN - Ethel Thressa Snyder, 87, of Iron Mountain, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at ManorCare Health Services in Kingsford.

She was born on Feb. 12, 1925, in Oconto, to the late Clifford and Thressa (Ama) LeMay.

On Aug. 26, 1944, Ethel married Earl Snyder at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Oconto. They lived in and raised their family at Oak Orchard. She was a cook and nurse's aide at two nursing homes.

Ethel and Earl wintered in Florida for many years and she enjoyed perch fishing, crafting, and will be remembered for the special dishes that she cooked or baked.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Earl; children, Gloria (Clifford) Sandberg of Oconto, Mary Snyder of Tarpon Springs, Fla., Steve Snyder of Crivitz, Amy Anders of Iron Mountain, and William Snyder of Chilton; grandchildren, Stacey Pepin and special friend, Jeremie Ottoson, Jennifer (Justin) Burgemeier, Kim Wilson and special friend, Brandon Michaud, Shannon (Brian) Osmon, and Tara Sandberg and special friend, Bobby Noack; great-grandchildren, Brittnay, Brandon, Kacey, Corey, Bradly, Brianna, Braylee, and Cooper; a brother, Melvin (Mona) LeMay of Oconto; a sister, Jane VanHulle of Oconto; a brother-in-law, Donald (Wanda) Snyder of Pittsfield, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, George Christl; a brother, Bernard; a daughter, Kathy; and son-in-law, Richard Anders.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kingsford.

Memorial service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Paul Kelto officiating.
