Margaret Swanson

IRON MOUNTAIN - Margaret Wittock Swanson, 90, of Victorian Pines in Iron Mountain, died peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at Dickinson Memorial Hospital with her family at her side.

She was born March 27, 1922, in Aurora, Wis., daughter of the late John and Margaret (Conrad) Erickson. Margaret was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Kingsford High School in 1940.

She married Richard "Dick" Wittock on July 3, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1990.

On April 28, 1992, Margaret married Bertil Swanson. He preceded her in death in 2006.

Margaret had worked at the Miller Insurance Agency from 1961 to 1979. She was a member of St. Mary & St. Joseph Church, Pine Grove Country Club, the United Commercial Travelers (UCT) Auxillary, Pine Mountain Bridge League, and a life member of the Lady Elks.

Margaret was an avid golfer and bowler, and had won many tournaments. She also enjoyed bridge and flower gardening. In her younger years, she had modeled for many of the local stores. Margaret loved fancy ballroom dancing and traveling with her husband. She had wintered many years in Florida. Margaret passed on many of life's valuable lessons and was an outstanding example to many.

Margaret is survived by her three children, Sharon (Clem) Bergstrom of Mission, Texas, Judy (Jack) Beauchamp of Riverview, Fla., and Kenneth (Beth) Wittock of Gilbert, Ariz.; a brother, Willie (Maija) Erickson of Breitung Township; one daughter-in-law, Pam Wittock of Neenah, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Rose (David) AuBuchon, Bridget Bergstrom, Melissa Bergstrom, Trever Wittock, Tyler (Mindy) Wittock, Tiffany (Joe) Humphrey, Wendy (Mike) Hartman, and Kristie (Jeff) Myers; nine great- grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Richard "Dicky" Wittock in 1990 and an infant son; three brothers, Sidney, Walter, and Conrad Erickson; and a sister, Martha Ramponi.

Friends may call on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

The funeral Mass will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will be in Cemetery Park.
