The Daily News

IRON MOUNTAIN - First United Methodist Church of Iron Mountain and Quinnesec United Methodist Church announced their new pastor, Walter Reichle.

Pastor Wally was born and raised in Marine City, Mich. He graduated from St. Clair County Community College with an associate degree in criminal justice. He then attended Northern Michigan University, receiving a bachelor of science degree in law enforcement. He was a police officer for 23 years.

Pastor Wally is the father of one stepdaughter and two sons. He enjoys hunting and the outdoors and has already expressed a love of the Upper Peninsula and its beauty.

He is certified as a basic and advanced lay speaker and recently completed schooling in Ohio to become licensed to preach. While at the school, he could "feel the presence of God and the power of the Holy Spirit" and came back excited to 'light a fire' and "spread the gospel of Jesus Christ."

Quinnesec and Iron Mountain are his first charges. What he might lack in experience he makes up for in enthusiasm.

"We, the congregations, are looking forward to working with him and seeing our churches grow under his nurturing. We would like to welcome anyone who is looking for a church to come and visit us," said a church spokesperson.

Quinnesec's service is at 9:30 a.m. and Iron Mountain's service is at 10:45 a.m. on Sundays.

This Sunday only, Iron Mountain will have a 9 a.m. service for those who prefer to be inside and then the two churches will join together for an outdoor service and potluck meal at Cowboy Lake at 10:30 a.m. Bring a dish to pass. Everyone is welcome.
