Doris Marinelli

VULCAN - Doris Lucy (Vecellio) Marinelli of Vulcan, passed away suddenly on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012,

Coming into this world on March 13, 1923, she was the third child of John and Louisa Vecellio.

On Aug. 6, 1941, Doris married her life-long love, William John Marinelli Jr. of Vulcan. He preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 2010.

Doris and Bill really enjoyed their life together - on the golf course, in the gardens, traveling the states and in Italy by bus and train, and spending time with their grandson, Kris, at band concerts and hockey and baseball games.

They had spent 69 years as a family in the house that Doris was born in.

Doris was active in the St. Barbara's Church Women's League, a member of the Norway-Vulcan Women's Club and for many years was a member of the Oak Crest Golf Course.

Doris and Bill were devoted Norway Knights fans and were honorary members of the Athletic Booster Club.

A loving, caring person, Doris had a strong faith and an extremely optimistic outlook on life.

She appreciated even the smallest of kindnesses and welcomed everyone, especially her morning coffee group of Maggie, Patsy and Wendy to her kitchen to share goodies.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Jane and son-in-law Richard Jamsen of Marquette; her "pride and joy" grandson, Kris (Michelle) Jamsen of Melbourne, Australia; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margaret and Jon Dahl; nieces, Diane Lomatch, Sue Vecellio, Patricia DeFauw, Kathy Tabacsko, Kirstin Dahl and Lisa Schrader.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill, brothers, George and Charles and nephew, Ted Vecellio.

In Doris's honor, donations can be made to the Norway High School Athletic Booster Club or St. Barbara's Church Special Projects Fund.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at St. Barbara's Church in Vulcan.

The mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with Fr. Tim Ekaitis presiding.

Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery.
