Girls basketball:IM practice

IRON MOUNTAIN - Iron Mountain Central Middle School will begin seventh and eighth grade girls basketball on Monday, Aug. 27.

Seventh grade will practice from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.; eighth grade from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the central middle school gym.

All participants must have a physical on file.

Football:Flivv changes

KINGSFORD - Kingsford has adjusted its junior varsity and freshmen football schedules, athletic director Al Unger announced.

Flivver jayvees show an open date on Thursday, Sept. 13, with Forest Park unable to field a team.

Kingsford's freshmen will meet Norway on Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Flivver Field and travel to Westwood on Thursday, Sept. 13. Both games kick off at 6 p.m. (Central time).

Menominee freshmen and Northern Elite jayvees were originally scheduled to play the Flivver freshmen.

Volleyball:Flivv JVs win

NIAGARA, Wis. - Kingsford junior varsity volleyball team opened the season by beating Niagara (25-18, 25-23) and Norway (25-10, 25-20).

The Flivvers were led by the hitting of Sammy Zander, Amber Larson and Annika Erickson, Coach Jerry Roberge reported.

He also cited the passing of Emily Murdock, Sierra Fayas and Sammie Lindeman; Maria Wiltzius at the net with five blocks, and the setting of Nikki Roberge.
