CRYSTAL FALLS - Reino E. Jacobson, 96, of Crystal Falls, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility.
He was born in Crystal Falls on Jan. 8, 1916, the son of the late Gust and Anna (Niemi) Jacobson. Reino graduated from Crystal Falls High School in 1934 and was a lifelong resident of the area.
He married Maymie Salmi on June 29, 1940, in Chicago. Reino worked at the Tobin Mine for several years until it closed in 1963. He also worked as a self-employed carpenter through Crystal Lumber and Slivensky Builders many years, retiring in 1979. Reino was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed Forest Park sports. He could build just about anything and enjoyed woodworking, cutting wood, and faithfully watching Suomi Kutsu (Finland Calling) on TV6 for more than 30 years.
Reino is survived by his wife of 72 years, Maymie; a son, Ron (Joanne) Jacobson of Rochester Hills, Mich.; two grandchildren, Heidi (Mike) Nussdorfer and David (Shelley) Hummel; five great-grandchildren; a brother, John Jacobson of Oak Park, Wis.; and several nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Rakowski.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Micheal Laakko will officiate.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
