CRYSTAL FALLS - Michael P. Claus, 55, of Crystal Falls, passed away on Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, in the caring hands of Dickinson County Memorial Hospital after a brief and compassionate stay at the Golden Living Center in Florence.
Michael was born Feb. 18, 1957, in Crystal Falls, son of Ruth (Combs) and the late David Claus. He has been a resident of this area for most of his life and was a 1975 graduate of Forest Park High School. Michael worked as a lumber handler for AGA-Conners Sports Flooring in Amasa for several years and most recently for Aspen Lumber in Sagola.
His many interests included hunting and collecting. Michael's favorite collectables were guns, knives, coins, belt buckles, magazines and comic books. He was avid trivia and movie buff. If you needed to know something about movies or music, Michael was the one to ask. One of Michael's daily joys was the walks he took with his dog, Magnus.
Michael is survived by his mother, Ruth of Crystal Falls; brother, David (Deb) Claus of Urbana, Iowa; sisters, Betty (Gerald) Anderson of Traer, Iowa, and Rose Claus, Lillian (Ronald) Anderson and Sally (Dale) Wiencek, all of Crystal Falls; 19 nieces and nephews; 37 great-nieces and great-nephews; and three great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Claus in May 2012 and his grandparents, Edward and Mary Claus and Clint and Martha Combs
Private family services will be held.
