CRYSTAL FALLS - Laura H. Wiggins, 92, of Crystal Falls, passed away Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.
She was born in South Haven, Mich., and was a longtime resident of Crystal Falls. Laura was a very active member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Michigan Gladiolus Society, Wisconsin Gladiolus Society, and a longtime member of the North American Gladiolus Council. She was named the Grand Champion 10 years in a row at the Upper Peninsula State Fair for her prized gladiolas. Laura will forever be known for her beautiful and award winning gladiola flowers.
Along with her husband, Walter, they owned and operated Wiggins Dairy in Crystal Falls. She was a member of United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls.
Laura is survived by one son, Wesley (Shelly) Wiggins of Iron Mountain; two daughters, Susan (John) DePotie of Crystal Falls and Joyce (Robert) Jacobs of Jacksonville, Ark.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters; two sisters-in-law, and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; grandson, Michael; granddaughter, Cheryl; two sisters; and four brothers.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home in Crystal Falls.
The Order of Eastern Star will offer a memorial service Sunday at 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls.
