EDITOR:We are writing to express concern about the pedestrian crosswalk between the VA Hospital and the Midtown Mall. There are signs on both sides of the walkway reminding motorists that "State law requires autos to yield to pedestrians when the light is flashing."
We cross this street many times and very rarely does anyone yield to us.
There are four lanes of traffic and even if one car does happen to stop, those in the other three lanes sail on by.
This is a dangerous and frustrating situation and impacts not only casual walkers like us, but those attempting to cross from the hospital.
We urge that motorists be mindful of this crosswalk, and that the law be enforced.
